I have an Ipod

I have a new computer with Vista.

Seems the two don't like talking to each other... :grumpy:

Anybody got a solution to get the two to communicate?

I have both Itunes and the latest Windows Media Player. Both work independently...and show my library of music files, etc. But if I plug in the Ipod....it makes the system hang.

I would love to find a 3rd party software (free would be best :D )

Anything out there?

Thanks for the help.

Dan

Do you have the current version of iTunes (v7.3.1) installed? If not, that may be the problem.

Ok....I had updated it before...but now that I open it today (of course) it is asking me to update to 7.3.1

Installing it right now....

I installed it and it works....but, Grind Masta "T" aka Tom Krein has my Ipod....

*grrrr*

:p

Well...I have the Ipod now...

I fire up Itunes....works great

I plug in the Ipod, it freezes up Itunes
Also freezes up Windows Explorer if I try to access it that way

I unplug the Ipod...Itunes works now!

Same exact problem I was having before...:(

By strange coincidence, I was given an Ipod today. The computer immediately available to test it out was a Vista machine. We had to restart the PC three times in the process, but it did end up working. We had to restart the iPod service and I found out that the Ipod itself came out-of-the-box without outdated firmeware that was incompatible with the new iPod software so I had to upgrade the firmware in the iPod. The iPod software just won't even recognize the iPod at all untill I did that. You may have the same problem.

I haven't yet tried to install it on my home machine which is XP; I'm afraid to.

In the end, it all worked. So far, I like the iPod but will need new headphones since I can't stand earbuds.

I have restarted a couple times....still locks up Itunes....I'll keep trying. *shrug*
