A forumite on Knifeforums asked me a question regarding Sirupatis vs. AKs. I thought others may be interested as well. Attached is a picture of some of mine. From bottom to top:
20" Kobra .326" spine thickness, 1lb. 4 oz.
20" Sirupati (not HI) .380" spine, 1lb, 8 oz.
21" Gelbu Special .435" spine, 1lb, 12 oz.
18" Ang Khola .452" spine, 1lb, 14 oz.
25" Sirupati .400" spine, 2lb, 4 oz.
While the AK in the same size is probably a better chopper, the Sirupati is very capable. The Kobra makes a great machete, and will lop off 1" limbs easily. The 25" Sirupati is too heavy for me to swing around much, as I'm kinda small, but it's a great blade.

Some more: From the bottom:
22" Chitlangi .355" spine, 1lb 8oz.
15" Ang Khola .415" spine, 1lb. 7oz.
17" Yvsa Cherokee Special, .360" spine, 1lb. 10oz.
18" World War II, .395" spine, 1lb. 13 oz.
16.5" Chiruwa Ang Khola .400" spine, 1lb. 14oz.

Thanks for looking,

Nice collection and pics Steve!!:)

BTW, what kind of finish did you give that 21"GS? Looks almost wet!

Is that a Kesar Chitlangi?

Great comparison pix. Helps give one perspective on the relative size and shape of the different models.

I'm working on my wooden handled Khuks putting Tru-Oil finish on. The GS, 18" AK and 25" Siru are in various stages of completion. Haven't started on the Kobra, YCS or Chitlangi yet. When I finish, I'll post pics of the handles. They're turning out pretty well. While Tru-oil leave a glossy finish, you can make it satin easily with 1000 grit paper, then when you need it glossy again, just rub on another coat with your finger.

The Chit is a Durba. Just got it from our dear friend Walosi. So far, I think it is my best one. Fit and finish are great, and the handle fits my hand perfectly. The chakma's handle is carved on the end, to distinguish it from the karda. The scabbard is an older type with tooling and a ridge up the front. It fits the Khuk better than any other I have.
