I've always used the generic one that my cell phone company provides. Thinking of changing it. I don't/can't answer my cell at work, so I keep it in my locker or car. I have people call my cell numerous times in a row thinking they will get a different result. Therefore, I came up with this possible voicemail greeting:

"You have reached the voicemail of Steve. If I didn't answer the first time, I isn't gonna answer the second or third time. So leave a message."

Any better ideas?

"Hi, you've reached Steve's cell phone. I can't answer this call at work as it's in my locker, but I promise to call you once I am done. Please leave me a short note. Thanks. Talk to you later..."

Speak highly to your friends. Don't talk down to them. ;)

Hi this is steve. Im not here right now and since your time is as valuable as mine leave a message and I promise to call you back asap. No need to call multiple times it wears down my battery and then I cannot call you back...have a nice day..

The best I have come across was one for a one man, one truck plumbing company. His truck had please report bad driving to .......................... As a friend of his I tried a fast one on him in traffic and dialed it to get the message: "Sorry I am unable to take your call as I am driving and it is illegal to use a cellphone whilst driving. Please try later when we are both stationary."

"Hello?...Hello??? Nope, this isn't Mark, it's the answering machine, but I do a pretty good imitation, don't I? Mark can't come to the phone right now, so please leave your name, number & a brief message, & Mark'll get back with you."

Even after several years, ppl still start talking after the first "Hello?" They usually leave a message to the effect that "I still fall for it."
