I'm sure this is a redundant question but had anyone else purchased any knives made by Volcan?

I tagged a Volcan Coronado to one of my Amazon orders because it came up in my suggestions, and I have to say I really like the overall design and feel of the knife. I know the steel (AUS 8 58-59 rc) is not the best but it may well be serviceable . With a few tweaks in design like a modification to the clip, an addition of a lanyard hole, and better steel, it would make it into my standard rotation.

For the price I am finding it to be a nice secondary carry.Does anyone else think the hand feel of this folder is really pleasing?

I picked up one of these a little while ago.

I think it is a great knife, but one has to be careful with it, as it is a lighter-duty folder. The Aus-8 is perfectly serviceable steel too.

I'd like to see a larger 3.5- to 4-inch version.

Kershaw was supposed to do a version of it, but it never happened. They did do a nice fixed blade hunter though.

A Kershaw version of it would have been awesome. I had always hopped that KAI would do a Shun bladed folder and this profile knife would fit into that concept perfectly.

I have one of these (Volcan Coronado) as well. It`s a very handy size for many chores (nothing too heavy-duty, as already mentioned). Great blade shape, sharp as hell, and the spring assist really deploys it in a hurry. I usually carry this in tandem with my Microtech Whale Shark, the two compliment each other quite well. Well worth the asking price, IMHO....

It looks like Kershaw will be doing another Matt Diskin collaboration folder after all.

It is called the Strobe.

It should be available in the later half of 2014.
