Ha. Must have been one helluva last ride.

My first car was a 1960 Beetle. Dad had ordered it brand new, had to wait 3 or 4 months for it to arrive. Paid $1200 for it.

Put a new engine in it in '85 when I took it over. Kept going for years after that until an accident where I almost bought the farm.

:D

Somebody call Survivorman and see if he'll do a show, Surviving a week in a Beetle Shelter. :D

I don't remember which year VW offered moss accents as a trim option. Looks sporty but I could see it only being a regional fad for the PNW. Maybe in drier climates they had tumbleweed options.

Looks fairly original. ;^)

Cover it up with brush and moss good. Instant debris shelter! I saw an old beetle in Va. that had been converted into a chicken coop.--KV

I have been 4 wheel'n in one of those twice, with two different owners. I was surprised how well they did, but you do have to becareful in the snow. They are flat on the bottom and turn in to heavy sleds and rest on top of the snow. :)

Thats cool. Sometimes I see old farm equipment but never a Bug.....

That'll buff right out :D Put an add on Craigslist...someone will bite!
is the engine still in her? The blocks are made of magnesium and work great as a fire starter! just like a DOAN ferro block :)

 As a Peace Corps volunteer, I have ridden in village buses that looked a lot worse. The vehicle looks ready to trasport 4 pigs trussed up in coconut leaf baskets, 20 chickens with their feet tied together, 12 cases of taro for the market, 7 school children with coins in their ears (the coins are for the bus fare) and 3 overweight grandmothers in the seat next to me.

It does need a new paint job. Use garish colors to show a burning comet ready to strike the Earth, write "METEOR EXPRESS" in huge letters on the side and you will be ready to roll. Oh, check the horn. No self-respecting village bus can go on the road unless it has a blaring horn sounding constantly. I suspect that other people with village transport experiece can fill in details I have missed.
