The Volt SS and Zing SS were a couple of models I noticed along side the Cryo when they were presented at Shot Show. Now that the Cryo is weeks (*fingers crossed*) away from release, what is currently going on with these two blades? Did they follow the 3/4 Ton into the black hole? Or, are these still on the table?

PS. You could always make a Volt with the anodized aluminum scales, 14c28n blade steel, and slap a USA badge on it ;-) hint hint (Let a guy dream).

Thanks for the vid link. Both great looking knives that just made it onto the "get" list.

You can also find both of them on the Kershaw catalog for 2012. I believe the Zing SS changed a little from the video to the catalog though. The prototype had jimping and a clip similar to the Volt SS. The one listed in the catalog has the original Zing jimping and that awkward Zing curved clip (also found on the volt 2, oso sweet, and others). Not a deal breaker at all. Thomas, Jimmer, is this still a 2012 model? :-)

I wonder if you can take the stainless framelock-side off and match it up with the Orange G10/liner side of an older Zing? Either way, these look like they made the list along side the Cryo for sure.

Interesting thought... An orange zing with assisted opening +1

Glad I was able to help feed "the list".

I don't think EZ Bake was talking about making a orange Zing with AO. I think he was talking about putting the framelock side from the new Zing and opposite scale from the US Zing together so it would be an orange zing with a framelock oppose to a liner lock on the US Zing.

Besides, I'm not sure it's possible to make an AO orange zing since the orange zing was a manual flipper and it won't have the torsion bar cutout.

While your at it, make sure you throw the 14c28n blade on it so you have a framelock Zing with the better blade steel.

I think the new SS Zing is going to be bigger than the old Zing.

From the Kershaw Catalog -
Get the Zing of pure steel—now with SpeedSafe. With
its unique design and pocket-perfect size, the Zing is one
of our most popular knives. Now we’re taking it to a new
level with the Zing SS. It’s larger, yet slimmer and offers
the security of a frame lock. Designed by RJ Martin.

It would be cool if it did work.

Yes, you are correct. I had visualized that completely wrong. It would make the orange Zing a frame lock as opposed to AO. Thank you for the correction. Either way, I'm confident they are a different size. Now, if I could just get a mod to comment on here... Please ;)

Yeah, I figured they wouldn't be the same size, but a guy can dream can't he? :D

Absolutely! I started my lobby for an aluminum scaled Volt on post #1.

I'm starting to guess that no one a good feel for these two products and their respected futures :(

It is over a month later and I saw these listed at Bass Pro but not in stock...Any updates yet?

Thanks....I first saw them at Bass pro shops but they never got them in yet....

I saw about ten dealers offering Zing SS' today. I would not mind getting a Zing SS, but I need to watch out before I have a bag full of 8cr13mov stainless framelocks from Kershaw!:o

The SS Volt is really a cool knife. I carried it all weekend, really thin and very comfortable in hand. Feels worlds better than the Volt II. I just wish the steel was better and something to break up the grey on grey. I could go for a stonewashed blade.

Ok I ordered two of them over the weekend.....Got an EBay dealer to wheel and deal for two and got a better price ( with shipping) then the link....I look forward to them getting here!
