A while ago I did a crude redesign of the Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto:
ColdSteelRecon1_Concept02.jpg

I'd like to have this knife but Cold Steel aren't going to produce it, and I don't have the skills nor the tools to do it myself. So I am hoping that someone here with a bit of experience will think this a fun project and would like to give it a go.
I don't have the Cold Steel Recon 1 tanto yet, so I would pay you the money to buy it. You would then modify it (grind away the secondary tip so the knife would become a spanto/droppoint) and then you would ship it to me (my expense of course).
I will put the edge back on it myself. Care would have to be taken not to overheat the blade, but I guess anyone with experience knows this better than I do. :o
I would gain a uniquely modded knife, and you would gain some more experience at no cost, and hopefully it would be fun to do it.

Anyone interested, please contact me for details to work it out.

Might see if Tom Krein is interested. What is the blade steel on it? Nevermind AUS8. Keeping the blade coating will be the biggest "problem." Can anybody find it cheaper than $63?

I've seen it online for $52 or thereabouts. I am not worried about the coating, probably gonna remove it anyway.
I'm sure a pro like Krein can do it, but it would make the knife too expensive for what it is.

Gotcha. You realize there will be a lot of thickness where that Tanto tip is removed up by the spine? I can round that Tanto into a drop point in about 15 minutes on my 1'x30" or 4"x36" sanders doing it bare handed. You do it bare handed because when it gets too hot to hold usually below 200'F you haven't blown the temper on the steel.

Yep, I get that. It should resemble the XM-18's point somewhat. I plan to just grind away on the Edge pro until the edge has a uniform angle all over.

Are you saying you're interested? :D
