I recently recieved this beautiful Vom Cleff. Until seeing it in Navihawks giveaway, I had never seen one before.
Anybody else have one(or more)? Anybody know anything about them?

I don't know about that brand, but I love how on those old knives they had the stag's bark all the way to the ends and edges!

I just wish the modern companies would do that.

Carl.

They had various cutlery. Ornate scissors and things like that. Not many around I think, but I may be surprised.

If there is another with stag this cool, I'll be amazed!

it's amazing how the old german & english folders could use such thin stag scales & many are intact 100 yrs later. dennis

Those are great looking little penknives. This one has silver scales. V.C & Co was a mark used by Vom Cleff.

Very nice! That is a classy looking blade.
Any clue as to what steel they would have used? I'm thinking something similar to 1095 but I'm really new to old knives.

Looking around the web they made straight razors also.

I'd love to find one. I really miss shaving with a straight. When I moved a few years ago mine disappeared. :(

You're brave Mack. I don't think I would attemt it.
Nice pearl on that one Bret. Lion cutlery. Thats another new one to me.

So, there are some out there. Very cool.
As for the broken blade, I have a similar blade on an Old Timer I recenly found. I carefully rounded the broken tip so it wouldn't snag and it is now a very useful blade.

"That is a beauty Crom! Very special that it was your Grandfathers too! "

Thanks! I am fortunate to have a handful of pocket knives and barber tools that were his. I wish I knew more about this knife, it was obviously thought highly of since it is in remarkably better condition that the other knives that belonged to him. He was something like 3rd generation barber, first US born German-American. I have all his old straight razors and stainless steel-bodied electric razors, they still work. That's a nice example you have as well, I have never seen another Vom Cleff with nicer pearl.

Here's a photo of a Vom Cleff I have since sold. It has a broken pen blade and an unusual "Gut Hook" style nail file blade. Sharp on the inside of the hook. It is much to small to be an actual gut hook. Possibly intended to be a seam ripper or thread cutter, or because it is on the file blade it has some Manicure purpose? At this point I am only guessing.....Barry
