A couple ones from Von Hagen Knives. Finished these a couple of days ago.
I designed this knife about five or six years ago when my daughter asked me to make a knife for her. Since that time the blade has grown a BIT longer, but the basic style and design has not changed at all.
Both of these knives are made from 1/8" 01 Tool Steel Bar Stock. They each have the same basic dimensions. The total length is 7 3/4" with a 3 3/4" blade. At the widest part, the blades are 1" wide.
Each of the handles are Polyester Pearl, which is a synthetic material that looks like mother of pearl. It is made from Polyester Resin mixed with pearly dust. It is extremely durable, will not shrink or swell, and polishes up to a high shine. In fact it is very similar to the material that bowling balls are made of. If very thin, it loses its three dimensional perception of depth and becomes translucent. I have found that to best achieve the incredible 3-D effect of this handle material, the scale or finished handle should be left a little thicker.
They also each have Black Vulcanized Spacers. The Purple Handled Knife weighs 3.60 ounces alone and, a mere 6.54 ounces, with the sheath. The Majestic Green Handled one weighs 3.65 ounces and only 6.70 ounces when it is in the sheath. These are incredibly light, yet SHARP knives.
I do love making knives. It is my passion, my art. Every knife that I make is for sale and it is still a thrill when each of them sell!!
