Had 10 possible votes to cast. I voted for 3. Two others I was able to vote "None Of The Above" and did so. The other 5 races I chose not to vote for anyone.

If my wife hadn't been ready to go I guess I would still have voted. But only to make sure I could vote against Kerry in the Main Election.

We also had a new voting machine. Want to bet the voters in Forida have troubles with them this time around too?

The line about " A pox on both your houses " keeps running through my mind for some reason. Also an incredible urge to scrub my hands afterward for 5 minutes, then repeat.

Yuck!

How can you vote against Kerry? He's our man. He has a reasoned position for each of us. He likes France. He wants us to go through the UN on important international matters. (which means on major international problems nothing will be done) He wants to end the tax breaks because the Government is in debt. He wants free health care for everyone. He won't touch Social Security's organization because even though it's going to crash and ruin many of us, changing it is seen as injurious, far too risky.

He's our man.
Please don't vote for Bush. He lied to us about WMD. He figured if we went to Iraq and couldn't find any we'd have...forgotten by then. He didn't listen to me when I told him to airlift an obsolete Soviet Reactor into place somewhere deep into the Iraq desert....

Here in Oklahoma you can only vote in the primary you're registered as. :(
Barb and I registered as Democrats just so we could vote for the Democrat least likely to win the Presidency come November. I did it years ago when I registered to vote and then Barb did the same when she registered out here.
I might've voted for one of the other Democrats this year but I doubt it.
The Democrats haven't had a good nominee for President for years as far as I'm concerned.
Wish they did. I think we need a change, just not Kerry or anyone like him!:barf:
The only Democrat I'm voting for this year as I've decided up to now is Brad Smith for the US Senate here in Oklahoma. He's a fellow Cherokee and against Jim Inhofe, Istook, and the other Republican old guard here. They need to be voted out, every last one of 'em IMO!!!!
But if Brad didn't vote the way I think he should I wouldn't vote for him just because he is Cherokee. Brad is like a breath of fresh air in the political arena and it would be really wonderful if there were more like him IMO.:)

...why choose the lesser evil?

--So says my shirt, a buddy of mine got it at the GenCon gaming convention, held annually here in Indy now!

As long as neither of them interfere with the sunsetting of the so-called "Assault Weapons Ban," may the best rich kid win. (they BOTH have voiced support in the last few years for the ban)

they BOTH have voiced support in the last few years for the ban)..

This is not an acurate comparison, and worse, it implies there is no difference so vote either way. While Bush did say he'd vote for the AWB if it hit his desk, he said so knowing it could not get through his own Republican controlled congress. Further, John Ashcroft is the only Attorney General in many decades to afirm the second amendment as an Individual right. John Kerry would not do that. Kerry voted for the AWB the first time around, and every ban he could get his pen on. He was given a shotgun at a rally recently that he voted to ban.

If you love the Second Amendment as much as the First, as do I, then there is no choice for President this cycle.

I heard an interesting defense of voting for Kerry even though he is non pro second, and it came from Hollow- he can't reverse the pro gun tide alone as President, so it's safe to vote for him. Well, to believe that, one is willing to put more of our liberty at risk than I.

It is a shame we can't just vote to put an "out to lunch" sign on the oval office door this term.

I like Bush, and I support his efforts in Iraq; but he hasn't done enough to merit a second term. The country might not survive another four years of his uncontrolled spending, support for unmitigated immigration and open borders, or his disdane for the Bill of Rights and the economy. As for Kerry, he has changed positions so often, that I am beginning to doubt his sanity. Why would anyone want this guy anywhere near a launch button? You can't change your mind and call those things back once they have gone Boom!

No matter which one gets elected I don't think that I will be getting a full night's sleep anytime soon.

I don't think that what politician gets elected to what office has ever made any difference in my life. Except once.

That was when Kennedy got shot. I was deer hunting at the time and they cancelled my leave and called me back to the base. I was pretty pissed off about that.

That is the reason I feel safe voting for Kerry. The republican majority would never let any gun control stuff pass.

I DO give Bush credit for the fact that the gov't(Bush's) took the position before the supreme court that the 2nd was an INDIVIDUAL right, something not even Reagan did.

On the other hand I think that the expansion of government snooping via Patriot and other stuff that will be passed by Bush later could seriously pave the way for anybody who wanted to confiscate in the future. Since Kerry wants to re write Patriot and the congress will prevent him from passing gun control, I feels safe.

To quote James Carville "Gun control is a LOSER issue for the democrats"

I think it lost Gore this state. I think Brady lost the Dems the congress.

Crime is at a 30 year(?) low. All Gore had to do was say tout the reduction in the crime rate, say that with things on the right track no additional gun control was needed and he would have sailed into the White House.

Instead he touted some sort of national gun owners ID card, since any sort of Federal registration is banned by the 1968 gun control act? But it sounded enough like registration to turn the electorate in rural areas against him. Polls consistently show a majority still reject registration.

Oh Yea,

In this state you can only vote in the primary of the party you are registered in, which I think is cool.

On the other hand if you sign a petition to get a third party candidate on the ballot you then cannot vote in the primary. This I do not think is cool.

Rusty is lucky to have "none of the above" as an option. I would about wear that one out on some of these elections if it were available in this state.

Bush has made some choices I am concerned about, especially the Patriot Act, but when it comes to most issues that have to do with individual freedom it's a no brainer between him and our 3 purple heart winner war hero Kerry (3 purple hearts and not 1-day in the hospital! Hey, he made it the issue, not me. (-;)

Thanks,

Norm
