I find it amazing that as tight as the blade feels horizontally as well as vertically that it swings free when you release the lock.

the blade is smooth but the lock IS horrible:eek:still waiting for it to breakin.the worst lock-back I've ever owned.I like the Voyager when it's open.

These locks are anvil tough and pencil necks or limp wrists may have difficulty engaging them................................. of course you are neither, so I am puzzled over your comments.
;)

Welllll I 'LL tell ya Upnorth,I own a lot of lockbacks, they are my prefered, this one IS NOT smooooooth when I push the release bar WITH MY TONGUE:rolleyes:the tang on the lockbar seems to hitch like it wasn't milled properly:)

Pardon me Garddogg , but exactly what did you mean by "push the bar with my tongue" ?
I was just reading along , living vicariously and didn't quite pick up what you were laying down.

Pardon accepted knifejerk, I am implying that a lockback should be that easy to push in to unlock the blade,my Voyager is VERY HARD to disengage the lock...

why is that Robert?

It is all psychological.I've had quality mid-locks with lighter springs and shorter lock engagements that though i've never had one release on me in different grips they have slightly raised them out of engagement. That is one reason i have always liked the Buck 110-stout spring and rear lock. The triad lock, though a mid-lock has deep engagement and stiffer springs. This is all theoretical but it does give you more confidence in use.

I had a medium Voyager with a very sticky lock. Returned it and got a large Voyager. Lock isn't sticky. Very smooth.

I know what ya mean Robert it only takes one fail, lucky for me I've NEVER had a lockback fail.On my modern folders though I prefer a liner (ie my 905 BM Styker titanium liners) or a framelock easier and quicker one hand operation, just my opinion;)
