So,I've been looking into buying a Cold Steel voyager XL clip point. As a SD blade it looks intimidating enough and I like larger knives. But as far as use. It seems somewhat unpractical for daily use but how does it hold up in outdoor/camping situations ? Is there anyone here who has had good or bad experience with it ?

I don't have any real experience with them other than playing with them at a store. As far as being a user, I've read really nothing but positive reviews of the Voyager series in general. The only complaints I've seen, if you can call them that, are that some people would like a "better" steel. But I haven't read anything bad about the knives themselves.

I've had one for years. I don't carry it often, since it's freakin' huge and scares people, but it's honestly not bad in the pocket. It's very light for something that size. I've used it in the woods plenty and it's held up well. Mostly though, if I need something that big I'll go with a fixed blade. :)

It is my EDC knife. I tried SAKs, Hammond Cruiser, Endura, Griptilian... settled on the Voyager XL, because it is light, strong, slices very well and is big enough to cut through a loaf of bread in one stroke (I hate pre-sliced bread and I prepare sandwiches quite often).
The only other folder I keep is Griptilian, when I need something that fits a suit pocket - but I don't carry it otherwise. The Voyager is just about perfect for me.

I've carried an X2 off and on for a while now, it does normal cutting chores just fine, jeans pockets are usually deep enough to hold the entire knife, and at 6.64oz it weighs much less than many of the "thick and chunky" style folders out there.

I don't see any reason to think that the smaller "XL" Voyager would be impractical in every day use.
