This is the newest model tomahawk that I picked up personally at Fehrman Knives in Byesville, Ohio just a few months ago. The fine people at Fehrman gave me a tour of their facility and I was able to hand pick a tomahawk he had and handle and then help assemble it right there. I purchased both this one and another with a custom high polish head and I've decided that I need only one so this one goes...
One of the engineers touched up the bevels on this one so it is perfect. Also, this is one of the newer versions with almost no forging imperfections in the surface. It is my understanding that they are making a special effort to increase the aesthetics of the heads and this was one of the new lot. The only modification I made to this was to put several layers of bicycle inner tube on handle to increase the grip. You can easily cut it away if you choose.
Also, this will come with one of the newest version nylon sheaths. With this version you no longer have to pull the tomahawk handle up through a hole in the middle of the sheath, you only have to lift a slightly upward and then outward because the new versions of the sheath are split in the middle.
