VTAC or K5

I personally like the VTAC. It has a impressive history behind it and the piece itself is impressive.
Have beat a couple of them up for a couple of years now and no problems at all.
Gave a few for xmas and good reports from new owners also.

i saw a ad in TK mag and it said it was on sale for a limited time for 129.99 i think, what is the regular price?

I've handled the VTAC but don't own one. I've handled the K5 and will soon own more than one. What are you looking for your hawk to do? Fighting/throwing... The VTAC is a good bet for the price. 1SKS had them for $139.95 and they're now also at the $129.95 price. Breeching/fighting? Super hard use tool? K5 hands down. These hawks compare with those double their price.

i was looking for a sturdy tool that can hold a edge but can also be a capable fighter, the article in TK made the K5 sound like the best but wanted to get a second opinion.

If you want a lightweight fighting/tactical weapon that can do some light breaching duty the VTAC is the overall winner.
If you want a badass tool that is capable of crash/rescue or medium/heavy breaching then the K5 is the winner. But I can assure you it's a brute.
I think that as a fighting hawk the K5 will weigh most people down. I find myselff wanting to use two hands with it. But the K5 will suffer more abuse than the polymer handled vtac. They're both the best, just in different categories.

It sounds from your last post that a vtac will suit you better, so I'd advise looking at Haysknivesmontana.com for some comparison ideas. Their G41 is made of 0-1, and is the tool I'd buy if I were looking for a killer polymer handled tomahawk for everyday cary.

But wait, there's more!!!

If you wait a little while, Eddie is supposedly coming out with a lighter weight version of the K5. That may just be the lightweight/heavy duty hawk with the least compromises. Eddie???

Yup, it's my understanding that Eddie will be coming out with a lighter, a shorter, and a lighter and shorter variation of each of his line. The lighter will keep the 3/8" head thickness, and reduce down to 1/4" for the handle. I'm looking forward to a hammer-poll version of this.

They Are Atc... Vtacs I Have Purchased Two From Them And Had No Problems.. Last One Shipped In 24 Hrs

Wow, 24 hours has got to be a record for them!!! I put in an order with Botac.com about 45 days ago, and got a shipping notice 2 weeks ago, and still nothing. I use them only when I"m prepared to wait this long, but never when I really need something. One of my orders took 4 months to arrive, which was quite a surprise after forgetting all about it!!! Just my miserable experiences. But if you're willing to wait that's a great price.

I Actually Faxed Them With Question About Stock. They Called Me Back Same Day. Maybe Its The Net That Slows Things Down Which It Shouldn't. Or Hopefully They Have Made Some Changes For The Better.

Stop It! You guys are going to make me buy another Hawk. This stuff getting addictive ....Seriously .....Isn't it great to have all these options...Remember when we did not have any.

Best
