Sorry for not doing this review when I said I would, I've been really busy lately. I've had it for about a year and a half and have put it through some really harsh conditions that proved it's strength to me. In the boundary waters I used it to cut off all the limbs of a fallen pine and it did really good, however if I would've had to process anything bigger than that (around 2-3 inches) I would rather carry in a hatchet. I've cut up piping and sheet metal that used to be on the front of a house and the spike held up good until a used it to smash cinder blocks, it did smash the blocks but it did not do good and sometimes it took more than one swing to break it. The finish has held up pretty good however it is slowly wearing of and is beautiful! The bare metal on mine is starting to patina and I think the whole hawk should look like that. To sharpen I used 420 grit sandpaper and a mouse pad and it's kept it sharp! The one thing this tomahawk does better than anything else is throwing. It is consistent at throwing up to 5 rotations, after that i can't stick it consistently even if it hits the target. The distance for me was about 3.5 large paces for 1 rotation. I'm an experienced thrower so before I did this review I wanted to teach a couple people with this tomahawk. The guy I taught had no problem throwing it and he was very consistent as long as he could hit the target, he told me it felt great in the hand and it was very easy to stick into the target. My girlfriend had trouble learning due to the weight however she did adjust to it and was able to hit the target every time, she told me she'd rather throw the fast hawk cause this one was to heavy, she's also only 5' and weighs 90 pounds. Overall it is a good solid tomahawk that can do anything well but mainly is a throwing hawk. It's a good tomahawk to learn with but if you have a smaller frame and don't have the strength I'd go with a fast hawk if all your doing is throwing. Steer clear of budget tomahawks unless it's the fasthawk, I've broken the handles on on two m48 one of the large sog tactical hawk and none of the other ones have the strength of the vtac tomahawk.
