Disgusting. What the fudge are those grooves on the blade supposed to be? They don't even call the lock 'Arc' but 'Axis', bleh :barf:

Sorry if this particular one has been posted before, I know there are SOG ripoffs out there, but jesus christ...

Very broad similarity. Quality is a definite short fall in the picture. The differences are very loud.

Sad that they would still try and sell on the basis of a poor copy.

That's a copy alright, the only ones they will sell too, are Ninjas

By the way, I think the Vulcan is a great knife, most definitely one of my keepers.

Maybe that's a "Romulan", they are close relatives of the Vulcans....

Sorry couldn't resist. :D

I will join in with everyone else with my disgust of cheap Chinese ripoffs of quality products, but your complaint above raises some confusion on my part.

The 'Axis' lock was invented by McHenry and Williams and Benchmade holds the rights to that patent (if I am not mistaken). The 'Arc' lock IMO was SOG's attempt to copy that concept by designing a similar lock that they could then patent.

The knife in the picture is certainly a Vulcan ripoff, but it's hard from the picture to actually tell if the lock is of the 'Axis' or 'Arc' variety. It does look like it could easily be an 'Axis' style lock that is just set into the handles at a rather steep angle. If this is true, this knife has not only ripped off one quality knife company, but two.

I looked at that picture again and I guess you are right - I can't say if that lock is really Arc-lock or Axis-lock. I was merely pointing out their (as I thought at the time) mistake. Sorry I confused you with that:) No harm done I hope. This thread needs more SOG content! Let's look at the real deal for a change.

If I'm not mistaken, It looks like they tried to copy the grooves from Brian Tighe's Tighe Breaker.
