I was looking at the Vulcan on 2 of my favorite retail sites tonight, and one says "VG-10" and the other "AUS8"?????

VG-10, yes.

AND, they feel -beautiful- in the hand. I have one in transit to me now :)

I was in the store who's website had them as AUS8 yesterday, and mentioned to them that their website had the wrong steel, he got out the latest SOG catalog and that's where they got it from, I saw it myself. It says "AUS8: in SOG's own catalog.

He then got a Vulcan out of the display and started laughing and said, "partner you are right", the blade had "VG-10" on it.

He must have an older catalog. When we first introduced the knife it was going to be AUS8 but after the first catalogs were printed it was upgraded to VG-10. So yes it is VG-10.

Could be, I didn't see the front cover with a date, just the page with the Vulcan on it.

BTW, great knife, for such a big folder, it was really smooth. I'm debating between it or a Spec-Elite!

No one has it yet?

Hi Chris :)

Any idea why they are on back order to Asia?

Been waiting MANY MANY months already :(

I'm still trying to decide, the Vulcan has a "flipper" on it, and I am not sure that's a good combination with "tip up" carry in a pocket.

Would a flipper cause the knife to start opening in your pocket when you are pulling it out???

I have been carrying the Vulcan off and on for a little over a month and not had a problem with the flipper opening the knife. I do carry the knife in the corner of my pocket with the opening side in the corner so there is very little chance for it to come open.

I am not sure why they might be on back order in Asia. I do know that we are constantly low on stock but I think that they are in stock here right now.

I have one, it's even better than I remember it from the Edgeshow I saw it at first. :)

Will be using my new baby today for helping out w/stock (Which admittedly isn't heavy duty work).

Thanks Chris, as I think about it, tip up should work OK, when you are pulling up on the knife the flipper should be being pushed by your pocket material from the back side, actually pushing the blade into the handle.

I was looking at it bass-akwards!

OK, Vulcan goes on the list of soon-2-get!

Woot!

My shop just called, and the stock has arrived! Must make the time to go down to get it soon :)

Any one got any non official photos of it to share?
