I'm getting ready to place an order for some .062" liners to thicken the handle on my ESEE-4. I'm looking at both the vulcanized and G10.
I read where the vulcanized absorbs moisture but then read where some custom knife makers use it exclusively so I'm confused. The vendor says to go over the exposed edges with Super Glue to seal them from soaking up moisture but I'm wondering how that will look.
My knife will be a hard use tool which means it will get wet and I plan on washing it often. .062" is rather thick and I don't want it to become a sponge. Will this be a real issue? I'd like to complete this improvement and not have to ever worry about it again.
I can just as easily go with G10 I guess but at .062" I'm wondering if thats so thick it will be hard to work with given G10's hardness. What are the pros - cons of each?
Also, two liners .062" = .124 increase in thickness. Is that a too thick of an increase? I've brought out the calipers and it seems it would make for a thick, beefy grip for a hard use knife.
TIA
