I''ve just started making knives, and am new here. I've used the vulcanized fiber in the basic colors, but am looking for a source for something different. Maybe pinks, purples, and different shades of the basics. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance, Taz

My advice, for whatever you think it's worth, is to use G10 instead of vulcanized fiber. G10 comes in more colors, is brighter, and doesn't shrink, melt, etc. like vulcanized fiber.

There are lots of places that you can get G10, but I like USA Knife Maker. Masecraft Supply has a pretty good selection too.

I'll second Chris's position. Much better results with G10.

Alpha Knife Supply has it, as well.

thanks for the advice, guys. not only on the use of the G10, but on the other sources for materials. i will try to figure out how to post pictures and get a couple on here of the ones i've done so far.

Thats tough.
Vulcanised fiber, aka Unica. is always black or red...
Good luck to you...

Comes in gray too, USA Knifmaker sent me a sample of it years ago.

I've seen it in other colors. I have some blue and white and I think Texas Knifemakers Supply has yellow and bright red. There are some applications where you are not going to get G10 to work in place of fiber. G10 will not follow curves but, fiber will.

hi,
You might try Alpha Knife Supply for your G10. Not only a LARGE selection of colors, but they also have it down to .014 thickness. I find that to be flexible enough for almost all situations.
