Vultures vs. Hummingbirds

FINDING WHAT YOU NEED

Both the hummingbird and the vulture fly over our nation's deserts.

All vultures see is rotting meat, because that is what they look for. They thrive on that diet.

But hummingbirds ignore the smelly flesh of dead animals. Instead, they look for the colorful blossoms of desert plants.

The vultures live on what was. They live on the past. They fill themselves with what is dead and gone.

But hummingbirds live on what is. They seek new life. They fill themselves with freshness and life.

Each bird finds what it is looking for. We all do.

This story brought tears to my eyes.

The much maligned Vultures having a long and proud history of judicious use of resources and having a common goal geared toward recycling and preservastion set upon by hundreds of little fleeting birds who feed upon the fetuses and newborn of beautiful living things.

The vultures respecting a policy of one for all, keeping a balance in which one dies so that many may live living amongst a murderous horde of colorfully garbed pillagers.

Bright Blessings for the New Year!

Didn't really expect a topic of this nature in General, but what the heck?

Here's how I see it...

Vultures perform a necessary function in the natural cycle of life. If we all flitted from beautiful flower to beautiful flower, ignoring the less pleasant things, such as the'smelly flesh of dead animals', imgine how quickly the Earth would become overrun with rotting corpses. Processing the darker phase of the Cycle is not only honorable, but imperative to growth and rebirth.

So here's to the DarkSide, for without its contrast, we would not truly know the Splendor of the Light.

How timely.

That is a great object leason and I thank you for contributing it.

Knife enthusiast, Poet/philosopher, a woman of many talents and who shares generously.

Vultures are generally not seen as "attractive". I don't think I've ever seen anyone put up a vulture feeder in their back yard. I may be wrong, but I don't seem to recall that the Portland Zoo has any vultures either.

We've got baby penguines, a baby elephant, a baby babbon, and a baby tiger, but no vultures... baby or adult.

Hummingbirds, though, hummingbirds we've got, a whole house full of 'em. They give you a little cup of syrup to take in with you as you go through the double doors. If you hold the little cup up, one of the hummingbirds will come and drink from it right out of your hand and you can get an up-close look at these facinating little birds. Everyone loves the hummingbirds.

Guys, I believe she's referring to some of the recent stuff on the forum. If not, the analogy still fits.

Judy, you don't have to btt everything else out there. Nice thought, but we can decide what we want to read for ourselves.
Thanks for adding a little pleasantness, though.

Ok, lets get back on track here. This has nothing to do with knives.
