Well, I've done something very like this before, but I love this blade shape, and I've got a couple more of these stag tapers. I'll probably do something like this again, unless I'm stopped!

11 1/4 " blade, clay-hardened for hamon....W-2
Guard, file-worked spacers, filed-to-stag butt-cap....416 S/S
Collar, file-worked fineal..."W" pattern Damascus

Here's that Butt

This puppy's going to the ABS Expo in San Antone with me, after a trip to Paul Long's for leather boots.

Thanks,

John

I'll add Eric's photo of the one I posted up last month. This one's the same style in a modified Turkish twist, with Sterling silver accents. Its with it's new owner, but I still love it!

Oh man, that is absolutely fantastic!!!

I'm also going to the ABS expo in San Antonio ;) (maybe I'll at least get to hold it :D :D)

That really is a very well done knife. If it handles anywhere close to as good as it looks, it will be a piece for someone to treasure

And I forgot to mention ---- PLEASE do something like this again!

John that is a beautiful knife . Everything you do is so crisp and clean what can I say I love your work

When they come out looking that good...there's no reason to stop!

Beautiful knife, can't wait to see Mr. Long's handiwork.

I sure would't be the one to tell you to stop - that is one gorgeous knife. Terrific lines - my favourite blade shape of yours.

I would also say some of the finest bowies being shown are from John White. Nice hamon and cool pommel along with a nice blade profile and awesome piece of stag.

SWEET!

The looooong clip really enhances this blade and is one of my favorite blade profiles.

What's pretty amazing is how, similar to Don Hanson, John is able to keep his full length fighters so balanced and quick in hand. Anyone who has handled one knows they are much more than just pretty.

Also like how he rolls/contours his handle material at the ferrule to create a very appealing effect and to help lesson the impact of any potential shrinkage.

The stag is outstanding. Though there's the ongoing quest for the perfect piece of stag or ivory, ever notice how some makers always seem to get the very best out of their handle material?

Nice job John.
