Nice one Mike. The stainless guard and frame is a good move.
I personally would like to see the top and bottom bevels meet.

Thanks for the comment Bruce
I don't understand what you mean about the bevels meeting, could you tell me more?

Mike

The bottom bevel "grind line" IMO should be higher and almost touch the top bevels "grind line" so there is a ridge. Please don't take this as criticism, it could just be me. The original Engish bowies may have been just exactly like yours, I can't fault them.

I do know what you are saying. when I first saw your comments I thought you were talking about bevels on the frame handle.

I agree with Bruce's comment. I like the asymmetric placement of the guard, I think it is functional and visually appealing.

Mike,

I love that knife...do you have a pic with it's sheath? Mind emailing me details on it or a similar piece? I'm not a steel expert so wanted to ask you about the W-2. Being here in a high-humidity environment, would I need to keep that blade lubricated to avoid pitting/rust, etc.? If so, perhaps an alternate steel would be more suitable. Advice and comments from all knowledgable members always welcome here!

Cheers,
Barnaby

Agree with both statements here.

I can comment on W2. I have a couple pieces in it and live in the humid northeast.

Its pretty corrosion resistant for a carbon steel but you will need to keep it oiled. I use eezox and have yet to see any active rust. It will patina over time and as its used but that is to be expected.
