Picked up a really nice western,$15, stamped on blade gaurd as follows 3 lines Western USA over W36w/ sheath. Any idea on worth and date? I looked at the catalogs posted and see example in 80 and 82, 86 can't remember?,resin impreg. wood handle, blade appears 1095 or CV THE cat's show tang stamping this one( don't got none)maybe got bit? still fairly new at all this but do appreaciate all the time and effort that has been expended in this fourm and especially Schrade, love exploring the history here at BFC.
 
New, the Camillus Westerns have been going for $70-80. An original Western... I really have no idea, as the market goes up and down, but ballpark, maybe $40-50 used.
 
Does it have a round or flat pommel like the Westmark series? Western made a W36 and W38 with a flat pommel and different blade shape from the round pommel ones. The flat pommel ones have no date codes.
 
Go to irv's site and you will see pictures of my knives including the W36 and W38 flat pommel ones.
 
edbeau it is the round pommel w36 I had looked at those before posting very cool! is that kerchief a promo from western? Also mom has my step dads western it is a boulder stamp thats what reminded me when I ran across the 1 I bought. Can't rember all the details on his but read in cat's it has at least 2 vulcanized rubber rings I think,maybe 3, in the stacked leather handle thanks for the reply.
 
I actually have two kerchiefs or kerchieves. I also got two unopened packs of playing cards with Western on them. Always looking for Western stuff.
