Hi all, I am new to the forum and have already learned a lot from you all. I was wondering if anyone on here has a W.C. Davis. I purchased one at a local gun shop it was used and dull. I got it descently sharp but not as sharp as I would like. So my question is. How sharp are they when they come from the factory? Also, is their any knife sharpeners that any of you would recommend? ( I'm looking for a convex edge). Thank in advance.

Davis knives don't use a convex edge I don't think. He uses a "standard" edge. His knives are as fine as any made today imho with excellent construction and well thought out detail. Most of his hunters use a Loveless style of knife which ain't a bad thing. By a Lansky Deluxe system. Sets the correct angle and easy to use. keepem sharp

I have two WC Davis knives that I've used. The 4" drop point hunter (Loveless style) is one of my main "go to" knives for a hunting trip. It's been with me to Alaska and half a dozen other locals. It's shaving sharp. I "free-hand" all my edges on stones; that's the way I was taught.
