hi all, got a quest. i started collecting s.r a short time ago. at an antique store near by i stopped in to see if thet had anything new i hadnt seen. the owner told me he had a s.r. he was selling for a realitive and he eas keeping it behind the desk so i could see it first he wants about 50 for it. its a w.r. case and sons "american barber" hollow ground. it is pristine he has no box for it i called case and they said they havent made sr's for years. except in the early 2000's it seems to be quite new. there is no box. what do you guys think of it? is it worth the 50 ? also has anyone heard fo a sr named foxor
its printed on the handle. i can get it for 30 and its pretty nice. one more ques. is their a book that lists sr's and thier value? thanks alot.

Does it have "slick black" handles? In Sargents book( Knives & Razors) 5th ed is is listed at $60.00 in EX. condition. The razor would have been made no later than 1955. A true value would be to check out e-bay. The new editions to Sargents do not have the case razor section. So, if interested in Case, find a 5th edition one line. Other books you should look for if you want to start collecting would be Ritchie and Stewarts book, although, I do not agree with their pricing. The best book is a rare one, by Robert Doyle, I have seen these go for high dollar on the internet but have not looked lately.
Another book for collectors is by Phillip Krumholz. Good luck on collecting.

i talked to a person at case and they told me they no longer made razors but the did make a batch in 2000 it has a black set of scales its black and ribbed on the outside and white underneath and all it say as far as a model is american barber
