thanks Joe, the Cocobola is from a huge board I have, here are some pics of the wood, still needs a bit more finish.

Between the smokin' hamon and the razzle-dazzle in that wood grain, I have to agree with Joe!

thanks Will, also going to get a blued steel pin through the handle today. Way too much blade mass out there to not have a pin.

I think that is the prettiest Cocobolo I haev ever seen. Normally, it's not a wood that is on my radar, but that is gorgeous. So is the knife it's attached to.

hi Roger, funny thing is I thought this piece was rather plain until I shaped it, then it really came to life. Sometimes wood really benefits a bunch from the contouring, sometimes not. This piece was one of the more plain pieces of Cocobola that I have, its from some real old stock thats been cut near 20 years.... looking fwd. to getting into the rest of the board(s).

Matt, if you take any more photos, could you post one of the spine thickness/taper from guard to point?

Man, that's a great blade! And I for one, think cocobolo is one of the most beatiful woods out there. Great job, Matt.

Dave

Will, here is a spine shot, this one is stout, not much taper until you get to the clip.

Matt, that is beautiful work, I'm really liking this one! The Cocobolo is gorgeous and the blued fittings tie it all together nicely!

First day of the bow season! I'm shooting a sweet Hill style bow this year!

Good to see a Lamey back on the pages. Nice work, Matt! Great hamon and love the handle contour. Nice piece of wood, for sure.
