Hey guys,
This is my first try at a fighter.
Only took me about a year to do :)
I forged this out of some of Don Hanson’s w2 I bought a while back.
416 guard
Koa handle.
I left the ricasso as forged and some of the spine, I just love how a hamon contrasts a rough texture. I underestimated getting a guard to match up to a forged ricasso so that was a major challenge.
I really enjoyed this build though.
Thanks for any comments/criticism.

Nice done! The hamon turned out beautifully. Great job getting that guard fit nice and tight to the forged ricasso too, I can imagine it being a pain to get right. Did you do something along the lines of lightly peening the guard face (then sand smooth) to help the guard fit into the forge texture a bit, or did ya relieve the sides of the tang as well?

Yeah Paul you hit the nail on the head both times. I peened the face to fit as much as I could, relieved underneath the guard and peened from underside too. I also slightly ground under both flats to get it as seamless as possible.
