with all the Kepharts i have been doing and with the up coming Ohio Classic Knife Show

i decided i needed to change it up a bit for my sanity

so i started off with a bar of 1X 1 1/2 W2

(yes that is a subliminal message)

marked a center line

marked the ends of the slot

drilled holes for the slot

milled a 1/4 inch slot for the drift

forged the spike and bit first

then i drifted the hole, yes i know its a fugly forging but its my first one

after grinding away all that wasent hawk

im happy every thing is centered

thanks for looking ill add more as i get it finished

Cool wip what wood are you standing it on ? I think Zebrano or some type of striped woods look great under these .

it is looking nice indeed. I have to say the spike is a lot longer than I'm used to seeing, which is not to say I don't like it.

welllllll today i had a couple of pics opening up the drift a little more but the phone went in the rain barrel. smart phones dont like water, i suspect that cats and smart phones have a lot in common

but i ordered the best curly maple handle that dunlap woodcraft had to offer. i even had a text message from them with a pic of the handle but that too went in the drink.

the day wasent a total loss.

yeah on second thought it was

ok the NSA must really want the pics because the phone just turned on all by itself

here are the pics

i got the handle on the left

i needed to open up the eye just a little bit and the bet way i could think of was to get a piece of heavy wall pipe and drift it too

it needed about another inch deeper

first the pipe

and this is where the phone went for a swim

Very cool. Is that chunk of W2 one of the square pieces that Don H. was selling a number of years back?
