I have a small list of favorite knives to make and I wish I had one of these ordered about every other month - I just love to make them.
I forged this blade from some of good ol' DH III's 2" W2. Also gives off a really nice hamon.
I've got to mention that every time I sharpen a W2 knife it just gives me shivers.
The Hot-blued take-down fittings are mild steel. One of mild steel's good uses in knife making!
Just a flawless piece of Ebony for the handle.
Balances right at the forefinger.

Can I ask, why you don't finish the handle and guard flush where they meet?

The wood is higher...

I thought that was a very basic part of good fit and finish

Natural handle material moves, and moves a LOT!!
If that customer lives in a drier part of the country/world, and that handle shrinks even .001" after having been shaped flush, then you're left with a sharp edge of steel.
I've been doing it that way since '98.
And it's not just done haphazardly. The leading edge of that material is slightly radiused, and where "fit and finish" comes in is when it is inspected close up and the AMOUNT of exposure needs to be consistent ALL the way around.
Look at most of the photos posted here and you'll see the same thing unless it's a more dimensionally stable material, or completely stable like man-made material.
 
I like the profile on that one and really like the guard!

Excellent knife. Some black or gray G10 and I'd use it in a street fight.

I don't think it matters :D the Loonie will be up over the dollar in the next quarter.

Another knock-out, Karl........one of my favorites of yours to this point.......I've sure there will be others. :D
