I was asked to make a knife that will be a gift to an Air Force Soldier and agreed on the price. However the design needed a little tweaking to make it a knife I wanted to make. So a sketch was made and sent for aproval and i began my first forged full tang knife. I dropped it off to Chuck to shoot Friday.

Nice Work.
You showed some flair with the handle flare
Looks Great.
Much Respect.

It is a nice and interesting looking knife. Can I ask, is there a functional reason for the narrowing tang or is it for the aesthetics? Either way it definitely works :)

It cuts down on weight and also helps distribute the weight forward. So aesthetics and function.

Very nice job on this one Chris. After all of the testing you did, it should be a great knife for the owner.

Thanks for the comments guys. The flair at the front of the scales was designed for retention in the Kydex. I would be sick if when the need came to use the knife that it was not there because I didn't have the forethought to insure it staying in the sheath until needed. After the handle shaping was done I found I like the feel of the flair.

Great job Chris. It turned out really good! Lin mentioned testing, if I'm not mistaken it was 200+ cuts on 3/8 in. Manila rope...still cuttin' hair, a solid performer! Great crossover knife, hunting/tactical-utility. You pulled it off nicely. Lookin' forward to getting my grubby lil' fingers on it.

Ben

Cheers Keith

That's a really good looking knife.
Very good execution on the tapered tang, I like the flared handle and that's a really good looking blade profile.:thumbup::thumbup:
I never knew you were a knifemaker until now. If I were that good I would want folks to know. ;)

Thanks for the kind comments guys. Kevin, I dont post all my work because I need to get a paid mambership. It is on the to do list. I also don't get anywhere close to the amount of shop time as I would like. If I had my way I could afford all the time I want to work on knives and afford to buy all the knives I admire. I could just see me having all the great work I see posted by the true knifemakers here. Ok, enough of my dreaming.

Chris

Yeah Chris, quit dreaming and get to work! Kevin, this guy's a dark horse...he has talent, motivation, and an eye for line, flow, and proportion. He's just so picky it takes 'im a coon's age to finish,LOL! Ben

Ben, I always get a kick out of seeing a fine knife from a talented maker I don't know of. Like when I walked up to your table. ;)
