I noticed that Bayley no longer makes the $700 (yikes) Bear Grylls "survival knife". Did he dump them for SOG after dumping Gerber for Bayley? Man we need a gossip page just for survival knives! :))

Fret not Mr. Pelton! Bayley still makes the S4, its just without Grylls signature. Lead time is only 362 weeks...Yes, you read correctly, lead time is almost 7 years!

362 weeks? What a nightmare for the maker! I can't imagine anything more soul-crushingly dull than being sentenced to making the same thing, over and over, for almost seven years. I guess he can make other stuff during that time too, but dang.

Thanks guys, I put my order in. Expected delivery date is 07/26/2017.

Now what to do till it gets here :confused:
 
I got one back when they were first offered. It's a very nice knife, but it costs a lot, being a custom made knife. OK for a collector, but I can think of quite a few knives that would do as well for a lot less.

Bear's latest collaboration is with Gerber. These should be out later this Fall. Steel is 12C27, I think.

Yes, we do RYP. I heard a rumor of a serial numbered HEST folder coming out soon for $250. :eek::D BTW: I thought I heard you on Coast to Coast the other night, but maybe I just dreamed it. :D
