so whats the deal in WA?

from what i can see you gotta carry a knife in plain view, which is a little counterintuitive for a guy who doesnt wanna freak out flaky granola munching seattle hikers.

I've talked to a cop about this, and he said for folding blades, they can be concealed, for fixed blades, they have to be in the open. I will sometimes carry my KA-BAR or Chris Reeve Tanto II with me when we go out at night. I haven't really freaked anybody out yet. So yes, folding blades you can conceal, but no butterfly knives, double-sided blades (daggers), or automatic (switchblade) knives allowed. Fixed blades can legally be carried in the open, but if you start scaring people, then it becomes illegal, and you may get arrested.

Hope this helped!

Hmmm seems like I remember my original carry permit . . . way back in the day saying it was actually a concealed weapons permit, meaning you could conceal blackjacks, knives etc. as well as guns. Cracks me up that anyone ever considered a Bali a switchblade or gravity knife. Heck, most folders these days can be presented faster than any bali and some switchblades. I lost a gravity knife that I had when I was a kid, dang if my AFCK doesn't beat it out of the gate every time and make a better fighter hands down.

The ways the laws are working against us these days I'd encourage everyone to do anything you can to the full extent of the law but be curtious of others and let them know that there are good/balanced individuals out there that deserves the right to carry.

I'm new here and it seems strange to hear ya'll talk about knife carry though to tell you the truth . . . I've been carrying guns so long, I look at EDC knife carry as: "well duhh, doesn't everyone carry at least one knife?"
