I am interested in the Microtech socom elite but have heard that it fails the spine wack test. I have seen pictures of the Microtech socom elite with the microbar lock and it looks beefy.

Is this the model that fails the spine wack test?

If anyone has this knife with the microbar would you be willing to test it and provide feedback?

I have a Socom Elite, an Amphibian and a Kestral, all with the Microbar.
It is as beefy a lock as you can ask for. I don't tend to do spine wacks as a test of lock strength. I have had these knives for years and all of them are rock solid, with no sign of lock failure of any sort. These knives get used at work and they hold up fine. IMHO buy and own with confidence.

I'm not sure what the microbar is, but I just took my mini socom elite framelock and beat the hell out of my arm spinewhacking against it, and that thing ain't budging! Might make me reconsider my "for sale" post, it's such a great knife!

I got a manual SOCOM Elite, and the lock on that one is more like a barn door, on a hinge. But there's a spring between the side of the handle and the lock. When the knife is closed, the spring is pushing the door towards the blade. When you open the blade, the spring pushes the door out into position. And since it's a spring, there's a constant pressure keeping the door in position, preventing the blade from closing.

It's not the most secure-looking locking mechanism I've ever seen, but it's not the weakest either. And no, mine doesn't fail the whacking test. Pretty good knife, actually, haven't carried it much, but the handle is pretty comfy.
