Hi all, first post on the Boker forum. I just ordered the Wagner RBB 01BO048 and AK101 01KAL101 from yourcornerstore and had a few questions:

1. What is the difference between the AK101 model number 01BO101 and the 01KAL101? Both of these are listed at http://www.boker.de/us/index.php?c=74,9 . They look exactly the same on the BokerUSA website.

2. Haven't found very much info on the Wagner RBB but it looks interesting, how is the quality of this blade? See http://www.boker.de/us/index.php?c=52,2,48 .

3. Is the glass breaker on these knives sturdy, will they hold up and can they be replaced?

4. How well is the heat treating done on Boker's Taiwanese 440C?

Thankyou for any info;
Vinny

Hello and welcome to the Boker forum.
There is no difference between the 01BO101 and the 01KAL101, they are
exactly the same knife, the difference in naming has to do with locensing and
the like.
As for the Wagner RBBs, I can answer better if you let me know which one you are interested in, lock back or button lock.
The glass breakers on all of them are replaceable.
Thanks, Terry

Hi Terry, thanks for the feedback and sorry for the delay. The RBB is a button lock item #01BO048. It seems to be a nice knife. How does a button lock work? Do you know to what Rc hardness the 440C is tempered to?

The windowbreaker work pretty good!
I smashed five windows after another... (on a junkyard!!!) and it still worked!

Hi, I recieved both the RBB drop point and the AK101. The AK101 is a monster of a knife, super lockup a real beauty. No issues here.

Had some issues with the RBB:
1. At both the BokerUSA site and the site it was purchased it stated the blade was 440C
but my RBB is AUS 8A. No big deal, though I believe 440C based on experience with old Bucks, is a better steel.

2. The RBB would not lock up in the open position, you could relatively easily press down on the spine and close the blade. The RBB is a button lock and what I realized was the button was not engaging in the tang cut-out, i.e., the cut-out was to small.

I took the knife apart, and using a small round file, slowly removed more material. Was very careful with the back edge that made engagement with the button to make it straight instead of round by using a small straight file. This did the trick and lockup is perfect now.
