So because EVERYTHING is cancelled, I got an unexpected four day weekend. I didn't spend the whole time in the shop, but got some good work in. Saturday I welded Damascus all day. Friday I put the finishing touches on a cool knife. The blade on this one is buggy seat spring, found in a field near the old community of Shiloh, TX out by Hutto. The steel was simple enough that it took a hamon, and hardened well. The guard is wagon wheel wrought iron from the Kromer estate out of Spicewood, TX, and handle is ash wood wagon tongue from the Springfield Wagon Company. It's probably relevant in light of the virus mayhem, Shiloh was the site of a smallpox outbreak :)
