If you have pockets, why would you want to carry one in your waistband?

For me, the waistband is the most sensible as my pockets are full of stuff. Left pocket handkerchief, and change, right pocket, mini torch, Swiss Army Card, Papermate pen and a couple of bits of paper. Back right, wallet. If you clip the knife to a pocket, it is difficult to put your hand in. I have tried both and various locations on my belt and find that over my right kidney is best.

I like IWB carry myself!! I carry a variety of knives that way; of most recent, I have been carrying my Firetac that way. I think the Delica would be fine carried IWB.

I've been carrying a CQC7 IWB for awhile now, and I've been seriously considering getting an IWB sheath made up for a SWKW Bandicoot.

Well, when I don't want anyone to know I'm carrying I'll tuck a folder behind the belt buckle and in waist band.

Specifically, I'll carry a Cold Steel X2 appendix carry IWB Believe me, under a shirt there is no printing what so ever.

Just my 0.02, you can go small, medium or huge with a IWB carry

I have always carried my folders in waist band.
Presently I carry my Chinook II IWB just over my hip pocket.
Besides feeling much more secure than in a pocket, and not taking up any pocket room, I can reach the knive with either hand.
I've never understood why people carry a folder in their pocket.

I didn't figure out this nice carrying method till about a few months ago. Back then I clipped my Delica inside the right front pocket or cargo pockets, both locations make it kind of weird on the hands whenever I am reaching for other stuff inside the pockets.

Now the Delica rests IWB just a bit behind the left hip, with belt covers the clip. So comfortable and non obstructive.

IWB is a very good way to carry clipped folders, it makes bigger knives easier to carry, too, even the Endura.

like pageophile said, sometimes you dont want everybody to know your carrying a knife. Anyone else ever had the experience of sitting next to someone, and having them unclip your knife from your pocket without you knowing it? Then they open it up and say, "Hey everybody, look what Bob's got!" terrible...

Guess that makes sense....I guess it just never occurred to me to carry a knife that way. I carry a gun that way all the time. Oughta work even better for a knife. You get a new idea from somewhere every day...

Recently i've started carrying a cold steel scimitar IWB. so much more unobtrusive than in the pockets. Hopefully this will be replaced tomorrow with a chinook II:D :D

I have carried a knife IWB behind my left hip for 7 to 8 years. I prefer this discrete method. I'm always searching for a better choice of knife. So far I have found the SS Delica (even in 95 degree Georgia summers) to work best, followed by a SS Endura and SS Police. The shape of the pivot end doesn't dig in to my flesh. For dress carry with a black clip, I prefer a Goddard micarta or a Centofante III.

Several guys here have had me make up low rider clips for their Para Military knives to carry that way when running. I guess what I'm saying is that there may be a reason to have a knife that rides a bit low for this type of waist ban carry. Ask a jogger I guess. Whatever you look at you may want to consider that before purchasing. Some of the SOG knives ride real low like the Twitch and the Twitch XL. A couple of the recent BM knives I have purchased have been low riders also.

intheusa, Jecar,
Welcome to Bladeforums!!!

I carry a Dodo IWB. The wire clip helps it to blend. I already have my pockets full(My Chinook II is in my LF pocket. Great knife) of knives, lights and a multitool. :)

I carry everything from a Caly to a Manix IWB. The area is desensitized after 3 or 4 decades of IWB carrying pistols and knives.
