Kept checking the mailbox Saturday in case they put my 18" WW2 in a bunch of filing cabinet size boxes and left the key to the particular oversize box inside my mailbox. Nothing, even by 4:30 Saturday.

I swing by to check it out Sunday about 6 PM and there's the familiar yellow card sitting in the mailbox. Nothing I can do to get at it for another 13 hours and 4 minutes.

It's going to be a long night tonight.

I know the feeling. Standing at the end of your driveway, no shoes because you saw the mailman drive down the other side of the street. Trying to act nonchalant to passing neighbors, not wanting to explain for fear of their starting stories of the "crazy guy with the swords"; pretending to check the junipers at the end of the sidewalk while keeping one eye on the approaching mail truck. As he approachs the mailbox one house down, we make eye contact and he begins to search frantically for my package that I have, over the last few days, asked him to "check for, one more time". I see the look of dispair in his eyes as he gives up the search and puts my neighbors mail into their box. He pulls up and I feel sorry for him...not being able to produce my package. I tell him it's ok, maybe tomorrow. He hangs his head ever so slightly and drives slowly to the next house. I give the bushes one last glance and head back to the house.

Yeah, Rusty, I think I know what you mean.

You know it is going to be well worth the wait. My 18" WWII sure was. One heck of a tool.

Too late for me, I'm afraid. I suppose that I don't have to use khuks and other blades for work around the new place, but it sure makes the yardwork more interesting.

The good news is that I got to meet some of the other neighbors today and found out that two of them shoot - one service rifle and one pistol. We're planning to hit the range in a couple of weeks.

who runs short on patience. Good catch, by the way. My first, just a few short months ago, was an 18" WWII.

See if I can attach a picture here - if it works, this is my 58" OAL two handed, 45" double edged blade Large War Sword ( I also have a Del Tin 2143 bastard at 48" OAL and a double edged 39" blade ).

And try again. Got it this time.

LOL..:D

Cool sword pic, Rusty. I'm back at work today and can't wait in the driveway for the mailman. Wonder if he has a cell phone?

My mailman once left a khuk on my doorstep tucked behind a couple of flower pots. He could have gotten in hot water over that, but he knows I'm single, live alone, and keep odd hours due to my military duties, so he took a chance. In this "CYA" world run by lawyers (no offense meant by the stereotype Berk;) ), there's still some guys out there with a heart and a backbone to go with it.:D

It is here. Noticed how light the box was, and as soon as I unwrapped it gave it a once over ( before wife gets home ) and again noticed the lightness in heft. Handle and blade are well done. This thing feels like it's actually a little lighter than the Bura 16.5 WW2. It's by no means thin and weak, though. It's just well balanced and with the longer blade gives you a higher velocity at the sweet spot.

Will eventually take down a bit of wood so the handle fits mo' betta. No hurry. That's all for now. Yawn

Got my "first" today...BAS. Looks pretty darn good. It was made by Shanker (Kumar?) and I am trying to figure out what his symbol is. His initials I figured out. :) As I am new to these elegant blades, would someone be so kind as to explain where the "sweet spot" is? I have searched for Flitz (recommended to me) but can't find it. Is there a chain that carries it?

Ben the sweet spot will tell you where it is on each and every khuk as they change a bit from each one. It's usually from just behind the curve at the front and back for about 3 or 4 inches.

WalMart carries the Flitz in their sporting goods section if you can't find it anywhere else.
Any good gun or gun and knife shop should carry it, or if it's still a hardship it can be ordered from many and various places off the internet.:)

It was made by Shanker (Kumar?)

Shanker and Kumar are two different Kamis

Kumar uses the Six point Star and the initals K.B.

Shanker uses the Trident and S.K. for his initals
