Waiting for my Bk2...

I did the payment yesterday and the online store confirmed receipt of the payment. This means that somewhere in the US 14000 km away there is a specific Becker BK2 with my name on it.

Yesterday I got some braai wood from my neighbor - the wood is locally called "hardekool". As a hobby I keep tarantulas and I have been using this specific wood to decorate my cages for a couple of years now, and I have noticed that even with the constant humidity in the tarantula cages, mold and fungus does not seem to grow on this wood. It is also an extremely hard and heavy wood.

This leads me to think that a pair of "hardekool" scales would be an excellent idea for my BK2. Today I had the blanks cut out and planed. Fiddling around with the scales will also help pass the time.

But this is still going to be a long two weeks....
 
congrats on the 2. pics of it with tarantulas crawling on it would be cool, for me at least... but i'm sure for many... not so much.

Oh hell yeah.......pics of the tarantulas on the knife.

I don't like spiders, but I do like cool. That would be cool.

i dont like spiders but i like beckers so i guess the pics would be at least interesting!
 
Congrats on your BK2, it's a workhorse that will serve you well. I just did some tree trimming this afternoon out in the yard with my 2. It performed like a light hatchet in chopping off 1/2" to 3/4" branches that are cropping up from the sides of a couple trees. It's by far my favorite camp knife and for hikes.
 
You guys have really given me a nice idea for a photo shoot. I have a big female Poecilotheria regalis that I will use for this project. You can Google for pics.... it is a very nice tarantula from India. I think it will be good choice for the photo shoot since it is among the most venomous of all the tarantulas.

Now I must just get my knife. I got an update this afternoon and the knife is now on its way to the online store's office in the us. There was a couple of days delay getting the knife from the supplying store. Hopefully by the end of next week I will have it here in Sa.
 
Oh, that would be an incredible picture! I need to get a picture of my Becker's with my snakes! Can't wait to see!
