We're about to have a daughter any day now, so I should be buying lighter khukuris, but an 18" Chiruwa Ang Khola from Uncle Bill and a sharpening CD from Dan are on the way, too. Our daughter will grow up in a house filled with love and khukuris (felt like I repeated myself ;) ). To top all of that off, my mom just had a successful battery of surgeries for carotid arteries.

I'm the luckiest guy I know and part of that luck includes meeting youse guys at the Cantina.

Had to share.

Installing the bases to the car seat in both cars gave me an idea:

Additional frogs or other sheath-attachable carrying methods so you khukuris can go with every set of clothes.

thombrogan-- great post! Wonderful news about your mom, soon-to-arrive daughter, and your chiruwa AK and sharpening CD :D What a great combination. You do realize, though, that HIKV has set in at this point, and there is no known cure? Rusty may try to tell you otherwise, but I'd take anything he says about "treatment options" with a hefty grain of salt; he's a carrier! :p

One of the GREAT rationalizations of the Cantina long history of rationalizing.

Nicely done.

Thanks, Josh and Kismet.

Well, I'll die for my little girl, but she only gets to borrow the kagas katne. If she wants one, I'll get her three, but mine is a gift from her Mom and stays with me. When she's older, she can have a Pen Knife and a Bilton. When she's a teen, she can choose between the Sirupatis, Ang Kholas, Gelbu Specials, Ganga Ram Specials, Uncle Bill Especials, BAS, Malla, WWII, and M43 (knowing about women's perogatives, I'll probably get them all for her in bone and wood).

With my luck, she'll think khuks are silly knives for silly dads and want no part of them. Is that good or bad?

My wife saw me in an HIKV stupor recently and paraphrased a line from "Good Boy":

"May I have a khukuri? No! Two khukuris? Ten khukuris! May I please have twenty khukuris?"

That pretty much says it all.

Kids and khukuris, (and kilts?) lifes greatest joys!?! A couple of days ago my son (4 yrs. old) told me he wanted to go shoot turkeys. Are AR-15s and Kel-Tec P-11s legal for turkey hunting in PA? :D

I've been wanting a larger Chiruwa so bad I could spit! Are The 18"ers normally available? I don't see them listed in the shop? I asked Yangdu but I think there was a misunderstanding.

I think we had a chiruwa 18" AK at the MWKK.....I used to have a 20" Chiruwa AK....nice lil' chopper... :D

Is it true? Is there a 18" or 20" Chiruwa out there somewhere?
More importantly is it "available",like for sale? Help me out guy's I'm Jones'n!

CONGRATULATIONS!!! Oh, and congratulations on the daughter too ;) . As for the silly knives for a silly dad thing, well that seems to work for every other 'fathers hobby' but from what I hear there is a strong chance the HIKV can be inherited so its very possible that your in luck there.

Maybe Pen could give you some advice on how to fully convex (as in like this U ) a Bilton as he did for his son IIRC (sorry if I have the wrong guy but its the thought that counts ;))

Congratulations again!

Congratulations Thom!

I got an 18" Chiruwa AK by accident (should have been 16.5) when I ordered for a friend. He likes it. The knife is here
besides my 18" Gelbu Special, 15" BAS and some "small ones".

Yep...Thom no longer knows how to make a knife dull....:p

I just held mine up against the belt sander until the edge was at least 1/16" thick....

And any touching/playing is 100% one-on-one Father-Son time.

THOM Congratulations on the baby girl! I don't know which is more difficult to raise boy or girl. Each has their own nuance. Both are a blessing. Happy to hear Mom's surgery went well.

Pan Tau What a tease! Wood handle too.

Thanks everybody. I hope that Ernesto gets his 18+ Chiruwa and that my baby likes knives. She still has to be born of course, but that'll be any day now.

Expanding Family, lots of love, and even more Khukuris… Indeed you have great luck.
Congrats. :)
