Got an ak47 ? How do you like it? Let see some pics...

For those of who that do not know. Cold steel is starting to use CTS-XHP steel on various models. The AK-47 has always been a favorite of mine.
I am not sure on what the heat treat is. But I can say it really does hold its edge well after doing some come cutting. The heat treat is amazing as anything else. It is such a good feeling to finally have a state of the art steel on my favorite design. The Tri ad lock speaks for itself. You can see everything you need in the photos.
I am not sure what these will go for. But I payed a small premium I think at 130$ shipped. That said, I would pay 200$ for this knife. It already had everything going for itself, but with the new steel it is King.
The coating is awesome and reminds me of a lighter colored boron carbide. Just brighter.

The looks of that knife are flippin awesome, do you have any cold steel in the standard aus8a steel? If so how do like them for regular use? Any noticeable difference in sharpening? I bet the increased edge holding of the CTS xhp is nice..

My first cold steel was a tanto recon 1 with the ultra lock I bought in the PX on a camp I was station at. I beat that knife like it stole my money lol never failed me. This is my first cold steel with the triad lock and from what I gather is even tougher than the ultra lock so I'm excited ha.

How do you like the pocket opener feature? Is it pretty reliable? Also is the reverse grip edge out comfortable ? Sorry for all the questions but there isn't a store to check out knives where I live..

I owned the Aus8 before this and it was great. The XHP touches up a lot like D2 , or M390 for me.
I really need the harder steel because of how much I use my knife. Of course prefer this steel, but I had a lawman in the aus8 and it was great. For the money. You cannot beat them. The Aus8 gets scary sharp with ease.

The opener disk works great every time. It is just a bit scary for the people standing around you.

sharpening isn't an issue for me so I think I'll like the increased edge retention of CTS xhp as well. I agree they can't be beat for the money.

I guarantee if this AK XHP was made in the USA. It would have to be like 250$.
At less than half that , I am very happy with the quality Taiwan sends out.
Im guessing everything on the knife comes from the USA besides the hardware. In a perfect world I would prefer it, but...

Agreed that cost would be significantly higher, part of what makes cold steel so awesome is the value to performance ratio IMO. I do like supporting USA companies but good lord I don't make enough money for every knife I buy to be 175 + lol but if I was lavishly wealthy I wouldn't mind.

Yo Bella got any more ak47 pics ? More the better

Come on folks there has to be more ak47 owners ...with pics of beautiful wear and character!

Mine shows some wear here and there. I'll definitely get the XHP version. It's a great knife, especially like the grip.

EDIT: Also although it's not my norm, it's kinda fun to whip it open wave style every now and then... :)

Nice! Is the knife comfortable in reverse grip or ice pick grip for say opening a hole the ice?

Reverse grip is the best of any knife IMO.
It really grabs your hand. No way to slip. The pinky groove from the pommel also lets you choke back and chop with good power.

Sweet beans I'm looking forward to getting it.. thanks for all the info

She arrived a day early!! couldnt be happier.. one odd note one of the clip screws is half sticking out but no biggie ill tighten it down.

Good point! I tightened that sucker down and all is well. Now I'm wondering if I should sand under the clip or pry the clip up a little bit to make pocketing a little easier.
Nice. Well better half sticking out than torqued to hell and back. :D
