well, this is my first time on here. i find it very odd with all the waiting for your knives. I can see a few months,.....but years! Amazing how that is.

Whenever I think the wait is long, I talk to my friend Eric (Keninshiro). He has a custom Emerson on order... :D

You custom guys make me glad I only have to wait a week or so for stuff to get here from 1SKS.com :D

My first wait was 13 months. It was supposed to be 8, but sometimes life interferes with knife makers as well. I can't complain, I didn't pay anything down at all and I love the knife.

My latest purchase has taken 4 weeks or so. It's getting shipped this week.

The key is to forget about it after the process starts. Otherwise, you'll go nuts.

Customs are for getting that "one knife". You may have to wait for perfection. If you need a knife "right now", get a production piece, that's what they're there for :D

I am waiting for Dan Gray of Maine to make me a knife. His waiting list is a year plus and I can wait. His work is outstanding.
I am waiting for Jerry Hossom to make me a knife. His waiting list is a year plus and I can wait. His work is outstanding.

THEN:

Once my knife money gets re-stocked I am gonna have Tom make me a TNT: wait about a year plus, plus

Gonna have Larry Davidson make me my own version of his Grey ghost. Wait time, who cares [probably at least a year]
and then beg and plead Neil Blackwood to make me a skirmish with some exotic handle material. Wait time for a Blackwood folder? I hope before I die.

Then I need one of Bill Buxton's new Damascus hunters. His work is great and his wait times are getting longer, and Ed Fowler will be making me a knife as soon as I can afford it and then ask him. The wait will be well worth it, and hopefully by BLADE 2003, L6 will have at least started a knife for me, but I am not done "designing it" on paper. Then I need to commission him.

and the list goes on and on. And I need to include a Strider SnG

The hardest part is not the wait, but trying to predict your financial situation when the knife is nearing completion. For excellence, the wait and anticipation is 50-% of the entire experience!!!! Can I wait? Yeah I can wait cuz I have no choice and I* want the knives made by those who frequent BFC...;)
