I'd like to eventually get a Ruck or a Waki. Besides cost and availability, are there any advantages to the Waki over the Ruck?

Does SR101 have any advantages (once again besides cost and availiability) over Infi in these style of blades?

Some would argue edge retention man. 52100 has always known to be a steel that has great edge holding capabilities. Add the heat treat that Swamp Rat incorporates, and Hattori Hanzo might have some stiff competition...

The only advantages the waki has IMO is cost and availability. Other than that the Ruck Rules:thumbup:

From what I've read:

Ruck:
Blade = 15"
Overall Length = 23 1/4"

Waki:
Blade Length 17 1/2"
OAL 27"

The Waki is beefier than a Ruck, closer to the AK-47.

How much are rucks going for on the secondary market? I was looking into either a ruck or a waki for use as a machete, but I like infi.

There's a nice one right now for about 420 on the for sale section.

I've been seriously looking at that. Although, the ruck just looks like it would be a quicker blade for more snap.

If you want a machette then the Ruck is the only viable option IMO. You wont swing a waki or ak one-handed for long.

You might get a waki and have it modded to take off some of the handle ?????????

RUcks go from 800-950+ depending on conditon and whether they have a sheath or not. A Ruck sheath from Okuden, or Buy Brown are around $150 alone.

I vastly prefer the waki. Owned a ruck for a while but it didn't do anything for me. I own two wakis, wouldn't mind another.

I like the grips better, they aren't as skinny as the Ruck and I like the swell at the end. Longer blade. More coating and grip options to suit your taste. Less than half as expensive.

The waki is one of the best deals out there in my opinion.

While I like my Ruck and Waki, neither of them is really like a machete. They are too thick behind the edge.
