So, I really want a waki but no luck :(. Can anyone help me understand the differences between the waki and the rucki? I thinking I'm going to get a rucki anyway but, it just doesn't look like quite as much of a chopper as the waki. Anyone with experience care to chime in?

The only difference Bro is the length. On the WAKI the hilt and blade are longer and that's it. Of coarse that translates into a little more mass in the swing but the steel is the same and as far as chopping in my opinion they aren't choppers. Yes trees have been fallen to them but I kinda think them to be more brush clearing then choppers. I would get the RUCKI now and after you have it if you change you mind about it, sale it. But the most important thing is at least you can get it now while it is still available and an order can be placed. One thing to think about regarding a chopper don't overlook a R9 or even the SYKW 1311, MOAD. # for # that thing is wicked for chopping. Like I said though, get the RUCKI while you can. If you don't and it gets pulled from the Swamps sale page you will be at the mercy of the 2ndary market. Just my .02 !!!

I wish these were curved just a little.
I know they have an up-swept tip, but they desperately need a proper curve, to be perfect.

Thanks for the 2 cents RussMo :) I really appreciate it. I'm just looking for a pack machete/sword. I already have my FBM's for the real grunt work :D. But I'm really impressed with the sr 101. From what I've been seeing it's pretty amazing steel. I have a Dogfather but it doesn't get much use now that I have my FBM's. It was a gateway knife, for me at least :D. It's a great knife though and a great chopper! I'm considering an AK47 at the moment but I'm not sure if that's too big to carry and too big for my wallet :).

If you want to use it as a pack machete/sword, between the two get the Rucki. Does almost as well as the Waki, but much more compact overall and lighter weight. However, imo the 1311 would be the best ticket for that. Here's a side-by-side shot of all 'em:

Like SpyderPhreak I got the three of them. For me, between the waki and the rucki: get the rucki! much more acute point section (on mine at least) and much easier to use with one hand/arm (again: for me, that is). A little lighter, as has been mentioned before, but also much more 'packable' because of a shorter size in both blade and handle. However, if you got the chance at a price point you can afford, get a SYKCo MOAB (1311)! It will outcut, -slash and -chop the other two.

As has been mentioned before as well...

Thanks a lot guys for the good advice. It really helped me decide. Also, thanks SpyderPhreak for the awesome comparison pic. That's a really sweet lookin lineup you got there :).

Does anyone have a hard time getting two hands around the handle of the rucki? Also, is it fast and comfortable in the hand?

Rucki is no more or less comfortable than the Waki; the handles are the same. I find them comfortable. The wacki was not fast in the hand due to its blade-heavier design. The Rucki is considerably quicker IMO, but still slower than a traditional sword would be. Two hands were no problem on either. The only task I'd prefer the Wacki for is straight chopping, but the difference isn't huge. Also, tip is pointier on the Rucki. It's a bussekin sword; buy it at cost, and if you don't like it, it's bound to go up in price later, as every other bussekin sword has.

As a side note, the Waki may still be available through the custom shop. I put an order in for the wife's Waki last month. Be advised, however, we were quoted a 10-16 week wait time. It's ok by me; I'm in no rush.
