What knives can be found at Wal-Mart in the U.S.? Florida in particular.
I'm there for Christmas, and as much as I'd like to find a blade shop, that might not happen. I still want to take advantage of the fact that down south, you guys have knives for MUCH less than we do up here.

Should be able to find a bunch. Some of my favorites would be Buck (a 110 for cheap), Leatherman, and Spyderco Native.

The Native has been phased out of Walmart's line. You might get lucky and find one of the Walmarts that carried them AND has some stock left over. I wouldn't hold my breath, though.

They usually offer Buck 110, 119, three or four Kershaws, some Leatherman knives and tools and maybe a couple interesting Gerbers. Some Walmarts offer the nicer knives in clamshell packaging. I was in one the other day that had clamshell Buck Omnis and Princes on closeout. Also some Chinese Buck slipjoints and some Leatherman knives.

Some of the NW Fl. Walmarts still have the Natives. There is also a good knife shop in Alabama close to NW Fl. What area of Fl. are you going to?

The Wal-Mart I work at has:
-Kershaw Vapor ~$20
-Kershaw Storm (serated) $29
-Kershaw Scallion ~$36
-Kershaw Blur (tanto serrated) ~$50
-Kershaw Chive
-Kershaw Leek (serrated) ~$50 maybe less
-Spyderco Native $40 (though discontinued)
-Buck Prince ~$30-$35 (I forgot)
-Buck 110 $26
-Buck 119 $40 (I think)
-Buck Nighthawk

and varied crappy gerbers, bucks, and leatherman tools and knives. don't pay attention to all those... these were all I could remember.

I've seen quite a few CRKT knives in local Wal-Marts, too.

yeah my local walmart has M16-03Z Zytels in blister packs. They're like 40 bucks though... why would you get one of those at that price, I don't know.

the best deal at WalMart since the Native left, IMO, is the Vapor for $20. It's taiwanese, ok, and has plastic washers, but it's a framelock with raaaaazor sharp AUS6, it's a Ken Onion design so it has great ergos, and they're easy to pimp out (polishing handles, etc.) not a bad knife - I just don't like the ramped thumbstuds.

I haven't been especially impressed with the build quality of the WalMart Buck 110's... they just feel kinda cheap and flimsy and poorly put together.

The prices for the CRKT knives I've seen in Wal-Mart have been very competitive, and generally lower than prices for the same knives at retail outlets that stock the same knives (such as Gander Mountain and perhaps Dicks Sporting Goods). One always pays more to buy a knife in a brick-and-mortar store; the tradeoff for paying for the store's higher overhead is the immediate gratification of getting the knife at the point of purchase.

I'm not sure why you would think the Buck 110 that can be had in a hang pack is any different than a Buck 110 purchased anywhere else. Do you believe Buck maintains separate manufacturing facilities and standards for different retail outlets downstream?

Buck ( Chuck Buck and Joe Houser) has stated several times in the Buck section here that ALL Buck 110s are created equal and the only difference is the belt sheath and package they come in. I have about 50+ 110s bought from all over and have yet to see a difference in any of them ( half are the Walmart Tins from 2005 and 2007).....

In texas, the native has been the only one I've found, in the Corpus, Austin, Killeen, San Antonio radius. For like $40.

I just left walmart for our weekly grocery shopping adventure. They had the Buck 110, 119 and a few others, I did not see the Spyderco Natives but I have seen them at other wal-marts. They also had a few CRKTs. If you are going to the Miami area you should be able to find a shop in a city that size.

Bump to see if someone from the Miami area can recommend a good brick and mortar as an alternative for the OP...anyone?
