This one cleaned up to like new...Now one of my favorites. I think I finally found a Cut Co style Walden. Someone please let me know if this is an Ulster style... Both blades marked with standard stamp on front, stainless steel on back...4.5" closed... Now to see if I can post these pics...
Barry

PS One day I'll remember how to get real photos here instead of the crappy thumbnails....

Not sure about your question...it is definitely a Walden, and not a Cut Co. The tang stamp should narrow it down to 1946-1950's.

Please elaborate...

super knife barry!! looks outstanding. the cut co. i have is like this:

SCHRADE
CUT CO.

thats the way mine is on the tang. i do believe yours is a schrade walden, but it is still a great knife!

Thanx for responses... I guess I was unclear about my question, because I've been here before wondering about the two different Schrade Walden styles. Bernie Levine's book mentions a "Schrade Cut Co" style Walden and a later "Ulster" style Walden. From others' earlier responses to my earlier inquiries I gathered that the general form, fit, and function of the "Cut Co" style was tighter than the Ulster style, and the tang stamp "finer." This seems to be more like the Cut Cos I have. The Ulster style Walden stamp is thicker and somewhat more "crude."

That is a beauty Barry.

The three styles you refer to will all be reflected directly in the tang stamp. If it is a Schrade Walden, Schrade Cut Co, or Ulster, the stamp will read just that.

Ulsters have several variations on their stamps, that go back in time, but they all include the word Ulster.
