So i've had my walking xm for a little now, but really wanted to wait to post pics till i could find a smooth cf scale and the eventual standoffs, but decided what the heck :D

One reason i'd really like to get some ti standoffs, is because i recently took it down, and noticed there was rusting on two standoffs and a couple screws(used xm). And the second picture, inside the jimping it looks like a copper color, is this rust as well? Is wd-40 and a brush the solution

Love the stonewashed lock and blade, just does it for me. Looking at all the pictures, and handling a 3.5 for some reason i thought the 3 would still be a bit beefy, but it's not at all. And there's some weird illusion that's making me think it's smaller than a small sebenza  Gonna hit the woods soon with some friends, so can't wait to put it to some use.

Couple questions though. Don't want to bother Rob anymore than I already have with some of my questions, and Blade being right around the corner. But does anyone know if they sell the basic hardware:
-regular 3in standoffs(i know the ti ones haven't been made yet)
-regular screws(one screw is almost completely stripped)
-teflon washers(not sure what happened, but it looks like the previous owner improperly re-assembled and gave a washer a nice impression).

I was hoping after Blade the hinderer store would be a bit restocked and then i could ask if they sold the little parts as well, but figured i'd ask here and see if anyone knew ahead. Looking forward to learning more about the XM, and in a few months i'll be picking up a flashpoint over in the land of the rising sun. See you all around~

Yep, you can get all that stuff. That is a drawback to having a knife that folks can break down. Some that shouldn't, do.

great, thanks for the heads up  i'll be sure to hit them up after blade then :)

The color in the jimping is from the heat treat.

Personally, I consider the 3" really well built, the proportions are perfect for a 3" blade and it is still built like a tank, albeit a smaller tank compared to the 3.5" or 4" XM. Good luck testing it, you aren't going to break it.

You could clean up that standoff in about five seconds with some fine sandpaper or scothbrite.

Rob can assist you with your hardware needs, send him a PM or email.

RDA- thanks for the info, i've never had to deal with any rust issues, so i definitely didn't want to try something i was unsure of and end up messing it up. And thank goodness the discoloration is from heat treating. Appreciate the info.

lemmuhj- thanks! Especially for the 3in i didn't quite care for a flipper. Eventually when i get a 3.5 and 4, then i want a flipper. But for something as small as this it didn't seem necessary. And i don't normally flip my knives either. That choil/finger guard though for the bigger blades for just in case, i'll happily have it.

Having the 3in now, i feel more annoyed i didn't win in the lottery at the CCKS, and hate that i won't be going to blade this year. Wish i could con my friends in florida to drive up and try to win me some swag :p
