Just wondering if anyone knows or uses a Walker-Turner bandsaw? I have a friend who inherited one from his grand father and he offered it to me for 75.00.I looked at it and I think its older than I am but it is in beautiful shape and I mean beautiful.Any thoughts or info would be appreciated. Thanks:D

What I know to look for in a bandsaw is a heavy, stiff frame. That way you can get the blade nice and tight without flexing the frame. Cast iron wheels are nice, too. The guides are good to scrutinize, the wearable parts are replaceable but if there is anything really broken it could be a problem to replace.

Tires are easy and cheap to get.

Older saws are often higher quality, IMO. I've never seen a walker-turner, but if it's as nice as you say it is, $75 is probably a real good price.

Just my $.02...

Its heavy Salem and built out of cast iron.I would say it was probably built in the late 40"s or early 1950"s.It has large wheels and takes a 78 inch blade. One thing is I"m tired of using my little 10 delta hobby saw! Thanks

Walker-Turners were well built and heavy duty. A good old one is better than a lot you could buy new today. I'de get it if it's complete and servicable.
