After all was ready for the party Saturday, I was walking around the yard with my camera in hand. I took some photos of the things that make the yard pleasant for a stroll.

The first set is of the pond. As I was trying to see if I could get a focus below the water surface ( to show the tadpoles on the plant stems),I noticed a dragon fly was hovering right above me. His reflection and the reflections of the water plants made an interesting shot. The tadpoles are from toads. they were mating last week when I was working in the yard. My 10 year old granddaughter was over for the weekend, and she was fascinated by watching them sing ( big ballooning throats) and watching them lay their eggs. The surface of the pond is black with thousands of the little wigglers a week later.

I'll post more shots in 5 photo groups.

Now, walking around the side gardens:

As I was focusing on a red day lily, I saw this little fellow on the edge.

Going around the front:

That plant stand is a 100 year old farrier's hand pump forge. My shop cat wandered in to see what I was doing.

And after going through the smithy, you end up walking to the back, by the wood shop:

Last shot is of Zoey. She makes elaborate farm layouts with the Lincoln Logs and an Ark full of animals. We also made as cedar birdhouse together last weekend.

Nice gardens and great camera work - after a year's worth of adding a second story to the house, our yard is pretty well trashed, but we've got some nice lilacs this year

A shot of the tents and an arrangement of giant alliums I cut the day before. Also a shots of the fiddler at the get together.:

I bet you don't have one blade of crabgrass or one weed in the entire yard.
Thank-you for sharing! Neat photos!

The annual Scottish Society picnic/party.

Lots of weeds, Crummy grass. There are places I fight with nature, and places I let it win ( because I don't stand a chance). In the early spring, the entire lawn is weeds.

Thanks for the tour Stacy!

Is that a natural pond or something you constructed? Now I understand a bit more about all the wildlife you are privileged to know.

I would have supposed you all would be in kilts, but your fiddler was dressed a bit more casual than that. Glad you all had fun. Hats off to you, you multidimensional one of a kind'er!

All the best, Phil

The pond is made from the tank of my old hot tub.
The party is casual, and only a couple of us were in kilts. With the rainy weather (and last year being 97 degrees), shorts were the order of the day.

You have a beautiful yard and garden Stacy. We are getting a few blooms here finally. Here is a short walk around my place.

Nice place , Bruce.
Bird shot is great.
What variety of lily is that?

(I think that is a haiku)

You may be right. The girls planted them but cant find the card for them. Very dainty and only one or two blooms each.
Kaye makes bird houses and spends hundreds per year feeding them and the squirrels around here. She wants to qualify for the "backyard habitat" status. Those poor squirrels get dive bombed every time they pass to close to the bird house complex.:D

I have a ferriers forge exactly like that but your handle is better. I need a belt for mine and it would operate.

Bruce, I'm laughing my @$$ off right now. I wasn't suggesting that the lily was a haiku variety.

As i finished the three lines, I noticed that it was almost a haiku poem. To be a proper haiku is should have three phrases, 17 syllables, and a 5-7-5 meter....so this would be closer:
Nice place Bruce
