We here in the Mono household are pretty excited that The Walking Dead is back on. I hate these long breaks in the seasons.

I hope to see Carl get put in his place this season. He is the only character I don't like. Typical snotty @ss teenager.

Is everyone else excited? :D

I enjoy the show, with all it's quirks and all. I find it very entertaining and a nice distraction from the daily grind.

I am a year behind, only watching on Netflix, but as the new season starts up, they have just put up last season on Netflix, so my wife and I are happy.

So, No Spoilers! Please! :D

I know the feeling when everyone has spoilers but you don't want any

My favorite TV show! Season 5 premiere was crazy!

I'm able to stomach Carl but Carol has always nauseated me. I like her better this season even though she has become a total Mary Sue. Any bets on which of the major characters will bite the dust this season?

Could be Glenn this season. I think Carol is baddass, and Carl has always been my favorite, but I just got a huge kick out of Merl!

That hat Carl wears aggravates the crap outta me and wtf is that soda bottle sized "silencer" they show on and off he keeps lugging around. I'm also a season behind because I rely on netflix but a couple of episodes from season 4 were plain tedious. Screw the character development attempts and stick to good clean zombie bashing.

I stopped watching at the end of Season 3, and from what I have heard, season 4 wasn't much better. But, I did see the first episode of season 5 and I was pleasantly surprised. That was probably the best single episode thus far in the series. It had plenty of action, a fresh story line, and good character development. Let's see what episode 2 looks like; I hope there is some action, but fear it will revert to a repetitive day time soap opera.

I liked the first season, 2nd was alright, but after that I haven't really been impressed with the plot direction. The "survival" aspect is being overshadowed and trivialized by all the fighting between groups. It's becoming less and less about finding resources, and security and more about us vs them. Too many guns with unlimited ammo.

Lost has the exact same problem with it's story as well. Glossed over basic survival needs in favor of an all out war.

Maybe season 5 gets better, haven't seen it yet.

Regarding unlimited ammo, they could have simply stumbled onto a couple backwoods prepper stashes.

Never mind the ammo, where do they keep finding CR123A batteries for their $600 Surefires?

The show is loosely based off of the "The Walking Dead" graphic novels. The comics are a bit further along in the story than the show but the details along the way differ. For that reason they might be worth a look if anyone wants a TWD fix. Up your geek cred with your friends by comparing the books vs show and all that. Careful though, you might come down with a case of the Tom Bombadil blues.

The video games follow a different set of characters in the same universe. They are mildly interesting.
