I don't blame the beers or even all the wine, I blame that double Southern comfort I had at the end of the night !
Anyway I figured some fresh air was in order ~
While walking I spotted some promising looking tinder fungus~
I've never really used this stuff much so figured I'd try it out. Two strikes of the ferro-rod and we had some smouldering fungus~
When you blow it the magic really happens~
I figured I'd try carrying it and when I came across some Cedar make a tinder bundle and try and light it. Turned out there were no Cedar in this area so just as the fungus became a small ember I grabbed some pine resin and tried to light that !
I got smoke but no fire !
I went back for some more fungus and tried again but this time using some Fatwood shavings~
Lot's of smoke again and some really hot embers but for some reason it wouldn't ignite the Fatwood...weird !
I always carry a whistle for using with the dogs and I always carry my Army SAK so recently I joined the two together, it really helps find the SAK when I place it on the ground~
This pic of Maisy came out blurry which is a shame because it would have been a good pic of my big old girl !
Amazing how fresh air makes you feel much better, I'm almost ready to party again now !
